Terms of Use

These conditions govern use of Shelby County Criminal History. Viewing a page, reading its content, or submitting a search means that you accept them. If you disagree with any condition, do not continue using the website.

NO FCRA USE. This privately owned website has no affiliation with Shelby County, Missouri, or any government body. Neither we nor our advertising partners provide a service intended for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions, or for another purpose regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The website identifies criminal-record resources in Shelby County and Missouri. It is not a private investigation firm or a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference website with no government connection. It neither stores official records nor retrieves them, conducts an official background check, or submits paperwork for a visitor.

Its content directs readers to the Shelby County Sheriff, the 41st Judicial Circuit, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Criminal Justice Information Services Division, and the Missouri Sex Offender Registry. Missouri's Sunshine Law, Chapter 610, and RSMo §43.530 govern public-government records and state criminal-history dissemination. They do not make this website an official custodian. Some pages also connect to third-party research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the website, you agree not to:

  • Use the website in violation of federal, Missouri, or local law
  • Threaten, stalk, or harass anyone with information found here
  • Use the content for employment, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Attempt unauthorized access to any account, server, or system
  • Deploy a bot, scraper, or other automated collection tool against the pages
  • Interfere with access, performance, or another visitor's use

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No information from this website or a linked service may be used to intimidate, threaten, stalk, harass, or unlawfully discriminate against a person. Missouri registry law and the official Missouri Sex Offender Registry notice bar using registry information to facilitate a crime. The public system exists for safety awareness, not confrontation, vigilantism, blacklisting, or unlawful discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create a background check, credit report, or consumer report. Our advertising partners' tools are not offered for an FCRA-regulated decision. You must not use website or linked-tool data to:

  • Make an employment decision
  • Evaluate a tenant or housing applicant
  • Set insurance eligibility or rates
  • Assess creditworthiness
  • Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other purpose regulated by the FCRA

A legally permissible check for such a purpose must come through an authorized official process or a provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

The content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a Shelby County charge, warrant, conviction, or Missouri expungement rule applies to one person. Obtain advice from a licensed Missouri attorney.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are provided "as is." We make no promise that:

  • An outside search result is complete, accurate, or correctly matched
  • Each page is current, complete, or free from error
  • The website will remain available without interruption
  • The website is entirely free from bugs or security weaknesses

Charges, dispositions, closures, and expungements can change a record after publication. Gaps and delays are possible. No statement here is an official statement by the Shelby County Sheriff, a Missouri court, or another government agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to government offices, courts, state agencies, legal resources, and outside search providers. We do not control a destination's availability, content, fees, terms, or data practices and are not responsible for them. Review the destination's terms before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code are owned by Shelby County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, changed, distributed, or used to create another work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from use of the website, its content, or any linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims, demands, actions, costs, and reasonable legal fees caused by your use of the website or a breach of these terms.

11. Governing Law

Missouri law governs these terms. Any dispute connected with use of the website must be brought in a court located in Missouri.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these conditions. A revision becomes effective when the updated terms are posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or ended at any time, with or without prior notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the other provisions remain effective. The affected provision will be narrowed only as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be directed through the Contact page.
