Search Queries
A name or place entered into a search box is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its response. We do not keep a separate log of those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When a visitor sends an email, we may retain the message long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Routine technical data may be recorded when a page loads. That information can include:

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Shelby County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to the Shelby County Sheriff, the 41st Judicial Circuit, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Criminal Justice Information Services Division, and the Missouri Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not turned into a consumer report or a record about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their own privacy terms govern the information entered there, including any retention or sharing. We do not control those practices. Read the provider's policy before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to county offices, Missouri courts, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before giving the destination personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to follow activity across websites and select targeted ads. Their tracking is not controlled by this policy.

We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and site performance
- Search providers processing a query submitted to their tool
- Advertising networks serving material on a page
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal demand

Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If we learn that such data was provided, we will take steps to remove it.

Applicable law may provide rights over personal data. Missouri's Sunshine Law, Chapter 610, governs access to public-government records, while RSMo §43.530 governs dissemination of state criminal-history information. Those laws do not turn this private website into a government custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:

- Ask that inaccurate personal information be corrected
- Seek deletion where the law provides that right
- Object to or opt out of certain processing when applicable
